King Crimson is een band waar mensen letterlijk dolgraag bij willen horen. In the Court of the Crimson King is een zwartkomische film voor iedereen die zich afvraagt of het de moeite waard is om alles op te offeren voor een enkel moment van transcendentie. Al meer dan 50 jaar leidt Robert Fripp, ook beroemd om zijn werk met David Bowie en Brian Eno, een unieke creatieve omgeving waarin vrijheid en verantwoordelijkheid samenspannen om het uiterste te eisen van de bandleden die alleen worden verlicht door het applaus van een publiek, doch wiens aanbidding echter dreigt hun leven nog moeilijker te maken. Het is een bevredigende en gevaarlijke omgeving waarin het buitengewone mogelijk is, niets zeker is en niet iedereen ongeschonden overleeft.
